A Day in the Life of Me :)

So... many of you might wonder what a teacher (who teaches in Utah) on summer vacation does, while living in Vegas? Well I am about to tell you :)

Vegas is super hot in the summer, so my day actually starts out quite early. Saving the world has to happen in at least 75 degree weather (actually it's never that cool here). I usually wake up with Jason at 3am and then start my day with a nice long run at 5am. It's kinda neat to run around the neighborhoods we live around. There are some awesome things to look at in the desert and there are even a couple of off roading trails I like to take! I even found a path that has sprinklers in the morning! YES!
Las Vegas Landscape. I get to look at this while I run!!
At about 7:00 I hit the shower, and finally get ready to conqure the world... by painting my toes or reading a good book. I just recently finished The Help, which is way good. Some parts were a little hard to read (very graphic), but over all I'd recommend it to anyone.
my toes :) Ha ha

I then browse the internet, and find awesome things to do and places to go.... Ha ha or maybe I take a nap.... Until my roommate Heidi wakes up! Then I bust out my guitar :) Ha ha, it's pretty much the highlight of my day. Heidi probably thinks I'm a little crazy to be bustin' out my guitar and singing at 10:00am, but oh well.

By 12:00 it is lunch time! Then I am off to see the world. I never thought in my entire life I would be as independent as I am. I hated doing anything by myself, but now why would not knowing anyone stop me from having fun? I usually go shopping, check out craft stores just for the heck of it (any teacher store is a must!), or explore the places we have close by. It really is kinda fun. I am always in search of something new to try too. I sometimes clean houses during this time, and hopefully I'll start watching kids soon.
my heaven... I love going to this store!! :)

Jason is usually home by 4:00 and I try to surprise him. Yesterday he came home early, so I made him go back outside, count to five, and re-enter, just so I could start a water fight. It didn't last very long, and by the time we were done both of us were pretty cooled off.

Having a roommate has been a little weird for us (we've only had each other to share a house with for over 2 years), so we decided to make a tradition every night to make sure we're not home as often. We joined a gym just down the street and so we change and head over to the gym for a couple of hours. I love it when we ride our bikes there, but we're super hot and sweaty by the time we get there. Jason is a very good personal trainer and has been helping me to make my muscles bigger :D

our fave place :P
After the gym we have to get our stinky sweaty selves cleaned up and ready for dinner. A new thing that I've really enjoyed lately, is that we both make dinner together every single night! It is seriously awesome! I love cooking with Jason, except when he thinks he knows what he is doing and tries to take over. He's usually pretty cranky because he's so hungry.

After dinner we clean up, read scriptures, work on memorizing A Proclamation to the World, play music (sometimes), pray, and go to bed. I feel like an old fart when we go to bed at 9, but it's nice.

Well.... that's my day pretty much everyday. I must say I have no complaints. I think I might start making the pool a part of my everyday schedule..... Tonight is DATE NIGHT! I better find something exciting to do, it's my turn to plan!

P.S. Tonight we're talking to our roommate about the puppy! She's been gone for 10 days so by the end of the weekend we'll know for sure what's going to happen :D

Viva Las Vegas!

Another week has gone by, and we have really started to love our "home". I actually might be sad to say goodbye to this place once we leave.... Running outside every morning is actually getting easier too (maybe because I have to get up at 5am lol) We have had some fantastic adventures and have already made some friends :)

This week our relief society had a "Bean Night" and I decided to attend. Not only did I decide to attend, but I also had a very nice lady from the ward invite me to come with. I was so excited to find a friend and so we attended and had a good time. I got to meet lots of oober nice people! I think we are really going to like our ward, especially because they do so much and they are so friendly! By the way, at this bean night I got delicious recipes, including black been brownies! I might have to try a few of them this week :)

Friday marked DATE NIGHT and we really had a good time. Jason was scheduled to arrive home and our adventure was to begin promptly at 5:00pm. However, on his way home there was a huge chemical spill on the freeway, so it ended up taking 3 hours to get home! We weren't very happy, but that didn't stop us from having fun. We decided to eat at Chili's because I got a wonderful gift card and with our hungry bellies very upset... it was the quickest get away. Well, we had a delicious dinner and I totally froze because the A/C was on so high. It is really sad when you have to go outside to warm up! :P

Because Jason and I are total party animals, we decided to drive the strip to work off our dinner. Vegas at night is really a sight to see! We both got a little dizzy from all the flashy lights. Driving made us brave, so we decided a walk might do us some good. Many people have told us about Circus Circus and so that's where we suddenly ended up. Circus Circus supposedly has awesome free shows, and I can atest to them being pretty good. We got to was a trapeze act, but boy did it make me super nervous. I almost had a heart attack thinking about how high they were, luckily I wasn't the one in the air although it felt like it. So if you ever wanna go to the strip at night in Vegas, definitely stay off the streets, and go see a free show :)

Saturday we decided to make it an epic day because of our shortage on time for date night. With our late night, our day started around 10 ish... and we got so much done. It started out with a destination to hit the pool, but had a little surprise in the middle of a possible addition to our family (yes a puppy). We hit up The Silverton and South Point Casino with visits of puppies in between. I'm pretty sure we found our dream boat at The Silverton and our dream puppy too! It was so fun :) Finally to end the night with a bang, Jason installed a new stereo for our car! I love my smarty pants husband and how he is so good at fixing things and putting things together.
The Silverton has a neat aquarium. You can see the Casino in this pic too...

Jason and I at the Silverton for the live fish feed. It was pretty sweet!
Jason test driving our new boat...

Our possible addition... we're still thinking about it, but she is super cute!

Sunday was stake conference and was amazingly good! The Las Vegas Temple president spoke and we really learned a ton. We learned tons about the goals we need to set and achieve. Our friends had a BBQ right after that, and we had lots of fun getting to know them and playing with their kids. We even played a fun game of Farkle and really had a good night.

Well, I'm finally done blabbing about our fantastic weekend... Amen to the post that's a million miles long! Ha ha. Next weekend brings more exciting adventures... or maybe I should start writing about everyday.... Happy Reading!

The Adventure Begins!

Today marked one week of living in Vegas! We still feel like we're on vacation, because we've been able to do so many fun things. We're still getting used to calling it our home.

We spent most of our time exploring Mandalay Bay.

Vegas is SUPER HOT!

Jason's Heaven....
Have you ever walked the strip in Vegas? Well, it's actually a lot of fun! Of course you need to do it during the day, and bring lots of water (it's super hot), but the casino's have everything!! It was crazy to walk through the MGM and even Mandalay Bay and think that all the things we saw were all in just one building. Jason even found his heaven in the MGM Grand as we walked through.

To add to our adventures, we went gym hopping in search of a cheap price and to stay out of the heat. Running in the desert really isn't easy when you're not used to the heat (that doesn't really help when you're training for a marathon). We ended up making a decision though, and celebrated with a date to The Cheesecake Factory and an out door movie. This week has been really great, and we are excited to explore and discover more fun things about Vegas!

The Celebration of 2 Years

Bakersfield California isn't the greatest vacation place, in fact if you don't want to be bored to death never visit Bakersfield! While we were there though, we did have some fun times. You may be wondering why we went there, and the simple answer is for Jason's internship. A few months ago Jason received a phone call about an internship for TIC and after 4 months of waiting for a placement we found that we would be going to Las Vegas for the summer. Jason however, had to attend a week long orientation in Bakersfield. I was completely fine with a week long paid vacation to California, but was a little disappointed when I found out exactly where it was.

We ended up staying in a really nice hotel out in the middle of nowhere, and I was looking forward to shopping and hanging out with the ladies. There was only one problem... Out of about 30 interns Jason was the only married one who brought his wife. I was doomed to a week spent in a hotel room. I made it fun however, and ended up making some new friends. Jason always made it up to me after work too! We had lots of fun experiences while being there, and had some interesting ones as well. Not to mention we saw an amazing movie! The Avengers, and it was fantastic!

The exciting story happens after our fun filled week in Bakersfield :) Our 2 year anniversary happened to be during that week, so why not drive to L.A and have a fun exciting weekend? That is exactly what we did! We drove to L.A and had a fun filled trip with an L.A temple session, boogie boarding in Santa Monica (Jason's first time EVER!), and visiting the Hollywood walk of fame (for the nerdy side of us). It was a fantastic tribute to 2 amazing years of the Osborn family!!! Not to mention I have the worst sun burn to prove it! We love summer!

Long time no post

so... I have decided that I am a failure when it comes to posts. I do have an excuse, but I'm not sure if it's really the greatest one. Here is the story....

September 6, 2011 the phone rang on my lunch break. I had gotten a job as a teaching assistant working in classrooms at Bear River Charter in Logan. It was a good job and very close to where we lived, but something I longed to do more than anything was to actually teach in my own classroom. This phone call changed our lives and family forever. A principal from West Point Elementary called to interview me that very afternoon. Being discouraged and with this being my 5th interview, I thought what the heck. So I drove 60 miles to that very school for an interview.

The interview went very well and I loved the principal who interviewed me. I had no intention of actually getting offered the job, and really didn't mind because I enjoyed the job I had. My interview strangely turned into a tour, and being introduced to the faculty and staff who still remained in the building. As we walked back to the main office we sat down one last time and I Clarissa Osborn was offered a third grade position! Our life was changed forever that day! It was hard to say goodbye to the kids I had been working with for two week, but I was thrilled to have my very own classroom! Literally my dreams were coming true!

I know that doesn't really explain my failure at writing posts, but I promise it's legit. Being a 1st year teacher, thrown in after the school year had already started, and having to commute an hour both ways, was very time consuming and a ton of hard work! I had the most amazing class anyone could every ask for, and those kids have touched my life forever. Now that school is out however, I have tons of time on my hands to tell you all about our adventures! Especially the adventures of our move to Vegas and an interesting trip to California... I'll save that for another time. Adios!
